In his capacity as the President of the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario, 8aixat partner Paul Le Vay co-chaired a committee tasked with objectively assessing French-language competency among bilingual Ontario judges and reporting to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The committee report concluded that consistent language-proficiency requirements should be adopted to ensure quality of judicial service to French-speaking justice system participants across Ontario, and made a series of recommendations to the Attorney-General to improve these standards. The recommendations in the report, and Paul’s role as co-chair and AJEFO president, were featured this week in the Law Times.
